Imagine moving to a senior living community and finding not just a home, but a place where lifelong friends and family create a neighbourhood that feels just like the one you’ve always belonged to. That’s exactly what happened at Stamford Estates in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where a group of Italian residents turned a new chapter into a celebration of heritage and togetherness.
A place where traditions thrive
Part of Atria Retirement Canada, Stamford Estates is a senior living community where Italian heritage is embraced and celebrated. It’s common to hear Italian love songs floating through the air and see neighbours sharing laughter over a bocce ball game. But the community’s appeal goes beyond culture – it’s a welcoming place for everyone, no matter their background.
Finding home at Stamford Estates
Grace discovered that firsthand when she moved in. While searching for senior living, she found something special – a vibrant, welcoming community where friendships flourish. Grace was so inspired that she encouraged five more family members and friends to join her, forming a close-knit group that feels just like their old neighbourhood.
“It was a snowball effect,” explains Sean McAuley, General Manager of Stamford Estates. With Grace leading the way, the community became a place to celebrate life, heritage and connection.
Bringing joy to every day
Grace remains active in shaping the community. She’s the first to join events, whether it’s bocce, live entertainment or simply enjoying a meal with her family-turned- neighbours. As McAuley says, “She makes everyone around her happy.”

One way that happiness spreads is through music. Nino, a 98-year-old friend of Grace’s cousin, often serenades his fellow residents. Known as “the singing barber” before retiring, Nino still shares his talent, bringing people together with his songs. “You can always hear his voice,” McAuley shares.
Welcoming new neighbours
Grace continues to stay connected with her old neighbourhood friends, encouraging them to explore Stamford Estates when considering senior living. She takes pride in helping others find a new home, sharing the sense of belonging she has discovered in her community. With her family by her side, Grace welcomes every new resident like an old friend, inviting them to join her table and become part of the community’s fabric.
That’s amore
For Grace and those she’s guided to Stamford Estates, it’s more than a place to live – it’s a place to belong. Here, cherished bonds are rekindled, new stories begin and the warmth of home is always present. Every day brings opportunities for connection, making life at Stamford Estates not just about where you live, but how you live – surrounded by people who make every moment meaningful.
